The Redditch Green
Fair is about making the world a better place, a chance for
anyone concerned about the environment to learn how to lead a
greener, more sustainable life. Don`t panic, we don`t want to turn
you into a hippy!! We can all make a real difference to the future
of the planet by making simple changes to our daily lives - incl
cutting down on waste, changing to a renewable energy supplier and
buying green/fair trade products etc.
The 2008 event is the third annual, independant green fair in Redditch. Watch a 3 minute movie of the fair last year and read a full report including a gallery of photos.
What you can expect to find at the
fair
There will be stalls offering all kinds of green/ethical products and information, including:
- organic produce
- eco-friendly products
- fairtrade goods
- natural soaps
- green books
- waste reduction solutions
- free veggie food samples
- and lots more.
There will also be alternative therapists, music
and a children`s entertainer will keep your
children busy whilst you browse the stalls. Refreshments will be
provided throughout the event by Redditch Vegetarians and Vegans.
You can find a full list of stallholders/exhibitors/attractions
here.
The Redditch Green Fair is held
in the heart of Redditch Town Centre, in and around St Stephens Church, providing easy access to all. If you`re not from Redditch, the chuch can be found at the top of Unicorn Hill, less than 5 minutes walk from the train/bus stations.
Click Here for a map of the
town centre. If the only way you can get to the fair is in a car, you can find other people to travel with you via Lift Share or Freewheelers.
World Environment Day
Saturday 7 June has been chosen for the date
of the fair because that is just 2 days after World Environment Day, a global day of
awareness raising held annually on 5th June. Established by the
United Nations and celebrated every year since 1972, WED has become
the most globally recognised date in the `green` calendar. The WED
slogan for 2008 is Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy. Recognising that climate change is becoming the defining issue of our era, UNEP is asking countries, companies and communities to focus on greenhouse gas emissions and how to reduce them. World Environment Day will highlight resources and initiatives that promote low carbon economies and life-styles, such as improved energy efficiency, alternative energy sources, forest conservation and eco-friendly consumption.
Publicising the event
We have produced hundreds of leaflets/posters in order to promote the event. We would be delighted to hear from anyone that would be able to distribute some leaflets amongst your friends, work coleagues, church members etc, or if you`re able to display posters in your local shop window, community noticeboards etc. Please contact us if you can help or you can download them yourself here

Organisers of the Event
The Redditch Green Fair is
made possible thanks to the combined efforts of various local green
groups, who originally joined forces to stage the 2006 Fair, under
the banner of Redditch Green Alliance. Since then, the groups
involved have continued to work together on various issues and have
changed their name to Redditch Alliance of Greens(RAG). The alliance
comprises local environmental, ethical and social justice groups,
all working towards a more sustainable town and planet. |
